WHAT DO YOU MAKE/SELL? TELL US ABOUT YO’ SELF.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BUSINESS?
11 Months! This is a new venture for me – I’m just about at my one year anniversary and still learning a ton. But I love the creative outlet it provides for me, the opportunity it gives me to dream up and manage my own business and the freedom it gives me to do the other important things in life that I love.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I was nearing the end of Maternity Leave while at home with my daughter Avalyn and just wasn’t feeling ready to go back to my old job. I wanted more time with her at home and I wanted the flexibility to be able to spend time with her and watch her grow. I had never thought of starting a stationery line, but I’ve always been a paper nerd. I’ve kept every important card, letter and note that was ever written to me, I collect quotes, I’ve saved all my old journals and I wasn’t finding the kinds of cards, prints and notepads that I wanted to use. Simple, Classic and Pretty. So, I decided I could make them!
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOUR WORK?
Scandinavian Design. I follow several Scandinavian Bloggers and am always looking at the pictures they take as inspiration for new products. I love the simple, clean and minimalism of the Scandinavian countries and that is the biggest influence for my work.
WHAT DO YOU DREAM FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE?
Honestly, I have a hundred different ideas for Wrinkle & Crease, and I have a hundred different ideas for the next business that I’d like to start, and the next one.For Wrinkle & Crease, it’s about words on paper that give people the courage or the motivation or whatever to get out of their comfort zone and make things happen. It’s about getting people to write a note to someone to say the words that they really feel, write out their thoughts, and let people know they care. This company to me is a platform to help connect people in a really simple way – with their dreams, with themselves, with others. If that can happen, even a handful of times – that would be so humbling, so amazing.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM AND WHY?
Instagram – I’m a picture girl. I love to see what’s important to my friends and family in the pictures they take. I love the community in Instagram. I cannot for the life of me limit what I have to say in the number of characters allowed in a tweet.
HOW DO YOU PICK YOURSELF UP WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?
I run. Preferably outside, but really anywhere. That always gives me perspective. Then I pick up a good Italian Wine, I crank my favorite tunes and often I’ll pick up my pen and a notebook and write for a while. And then I make a plan. I don’t always stick to my plan, but I always make one. And then I try to shake things off. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and I try to look for the good in whatever the situation, look forward and move on.
WHATS ONE THING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU? GIVE US AN INTERESTING FACT!
I Slept with a Tarantula once. I had NO idea that I slept with it until the next morning. I was backpacking in Northern Australia and was living in a tent in the rain forest. I tucked myself in one night, zipped my tent up tight and went off to sleep and woke the next morning, opened my eyes to see a nice furry, massive tarantula on my pillow next to my face. I was surprisingly calm, slowly sat up, unzipped my tent and ever so gently picked up the pillow, lifted it towards the door and chucked it out of the tent, zipped myself back in and screamed for about 3 minutes.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I would Fly. And I then would visit a dozen countries a day.
