WHAT DO YOU MAKE/SELL? TELL US ABOUT YO’ SELF.
I am a photographer who uses her images to make all sorts of things. I started just by making prints of my photographs, but have branched out into pendants, compact mirrors, home décor and wood blocks over the years.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BUSINESS?
7 years now!
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I came across a poster for the very first PARKSALE and thought about how fun it would be to sell prints of my photographs. I had no idea if anyone would buy them, but I’d given enough copies away to friends & family who’d asked, I thought it was worth a shot. I applied for PARKSALE that same day and ended up having an amazing market day, proving to myself I could be self-employed!
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOUR WORK?
My background is in archaeology and that’s a huge influence on my work, even the photos that aren’t of ancient ruins. Through my camera, I’m preserving a moment in time, a thought, or an idea. My artifact pendants are directly inspired by archaeology, taking their rough shapes from the broken ceramics we excavate on digsites. No real artifacts were hurt in the process, though!
WHAT DO YOU DREAM FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE?
I have some big plans coming up in the next year, and I think that’s one of my dreams: to always have big plans. The day I stop looking forward to how I’m going to make Logee Photo bigger and better next year, is the day I close up shop and move on to another venture.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM AND WHY?
Instagram, and not just because that’s the obvious choice for a photographer! I love the way I get to see glimpses of the lives of those I follow through their eyes. I’m nosy, so I love the visual of seeing what someone’s making and how they’re making it or even just what their kitchen looks like!
HOW DO YOU PICK YOURSELF UP WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?
Puppy cuddles. I have three amazing dogs and am a firm believer one cannot be sad when cuddling with dogs. Dogs just have life figured out and are almost perpetually happy. They shrug off the bad stuff, hop down into their play stance, and take off running. It’s a really nice example of how to live life to the fullest.
WHAT’S ONE THING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU? GIVE US AN INTERESTING FACT!
I’m really particular about pens. I have a specific pen brand and size I use for my To-Do List (Sarasa Zebra 0.7 in black) and for my journals (InkJoy 1.0M in blue). It bothers me to no end if I have to use a different pen because I’ve misplaced my regular ones. I will opt to not write things down if I can’t find my pens!
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Teleportation. I hate flying, but love travelling. I would be so happy to just teleport anywhere in the world whenever I felt like it.
