WHAT DO YOU MAKE/SELL? TELL US ABOUT YO’ SELF.
I am self-taught Makeup Artist. My artistic ability is rooted in my Fine Arts knowledge and skill. Having this as my base gives me an exceptional and refined understanding of facial features, colour theory and shading. It brings me great joy in making women see a more glamorous, dolled-up version of themselves!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BUSINESS?
I have been a Makeup Artist for 7 years, and had Rouge for 3.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
After the hours and sales demand working as an artist/manager at MAC Cosmetics was no longer fulfilling, I realized that it was time to move on and start my own business. I took a business course and went from there.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOUR WORK?
The every day people inspire my work. The young graduate, a career driven woman, stay-at-home mother, the newlywed, fashionista and every other face that crosses my path. Val Garland is my pro-artist inspo.
WHAT DO YOU DREAM FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE?
I love Canada, and I am so proud to be a Canadian. My dream is to be a respected and known artist in the wedding and fashion industry in Canada; to be the face of glam in Canada. I would love to do makeup for the ladies of The Social.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM AND WHY?
For me, Instagram has been an easy way to share my portfolio with the public. Though for my business, I would say that Facebook has proven to help me the most.
HOW DO YOU PICK YOURSELF UP WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?
I have been in an out jobs for 3 years never really understanding why none of them really stuck. Overall feeling incompetent. The more I try to take the ‘easy’ road and just get a job, the more I realize that I am just fooling myself. Its been very hard, but I see now this is the path God has chosen for me!
WHAT’S ONE THING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU? GIVE US AN INTERESTING FACT!
I’m obsessed with interior decorating, and all things home! I am constantly moving furniture around buying this and that for my home. It drives my husband a little koo-koo but I simply cannot stop!
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
To be able to remove all the calories present in wine and cheese. So myself and my fellow wine and cheese lovers could eat and drink endlessly.
