Kathryn& Sarah – MAKER

WHAT DO YOU MAKE/SELL? TELL US ABOUT YO’ SELF.
We offer art/craft nights at local bars and restaurants for adults. We give the time, space and inspiration to create.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BUSINESS?
Since January 2016.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
It was an idea that had been percolating for about a year after seeing the running joke on Pinterest how everyone pins a million DIYs but never does any. We wanted to remove the intimidation factor and encourage people to start creating.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOUR WORK?
Seeing creativity flourish. We are always super inspired by guests at our events and what they come up with. We give them the starting point, and the result always amazes us. Especially those that attend that claim to “not have a creative bone in their body”, yet create something completely unpredictable and outstanding.
WHAT DO YOU DREAM FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE?
We want to scale it up, offer more workshops, more variety, get local artists with their niches involved and teaching. To be the platform for creativity to bring together and bond our yyc community.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM AND WHY?
Instagram. We get the most engagement, and it’s so visual.

HOW DO YOU PICK YOURSELF UP WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?
Try another door.
WHAT’S ONE THING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU? GIVE US AN INTERESTING FACT!
Kathryn – used to be a competitive figure skater
Sarah – used to be a competitive dancer

IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Kathryn – to be in two places at once
Sarah – to read people’s minds
