I founded an online yoga & activewear e-commerce site – hemm.ca With 20+ brands. We are one of a kind in Canada fusing fitness x fashion.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BUSINESS?
I just launched our store online in November!
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I founded my first retail store back in 2007 in my hometown of Regina, Sk. After moving to Calgary in 2009 I bought a maternity boutique in 2010 which I later sold after my second child was born. I started HEMM to bring independent fitness labels to the Canadian market.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOUR WORK?
My work is inspired by connecting and collaborating with the brands we stock and bringing the fitness, fashion and lifestyle world into one brand – HEMM
WHAT DO YOU DREAM FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE?
My plan is to create a seamless online shopping experience for our customers. We visualize retail stores across Canada and building a community that supports and encourages everyone to be active.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM AND WHY?
I love instagram because it lets our customer see our product which is next best to seeing it first hand! We can build relationships on instagram so that people start to feel connected to our brand.
HOW DO YOU PICK YOURSELF UP WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?
I am always learning from the mistakes I make. They usually end up forcing us to do things in a different way that end up working better than big mistake in the first place!
WHAT’S ONE THING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU? GIVE US AN INTERESTING FACT!
My first business was running a babysitting service in my neighbourhood when I was 12.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
To be in 5 places at once would be amazing! I am a busy stay at home mom and run HEMM from my home office. I’m dropping one off at school, trying to nap the other all while answering emails, executing marketing strategies, hosting pop-ups and answering calls all day!
