Erin opened up her dog walking business Canine Atelier just a under a year ago and is pawsitivly loving it. So not only does she love dogs but she also uses Star Trek quotes and has a ukulele. WHAT DO YOU MAKE/SELL? TELL US ABOUT YO’ SELF.
I have dog walking business, catering to inner city communities. Every walk is an adventure beginning and ending in their own community.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BUSINESS?
Juuuuuust under a year. Canine Atelier has been my brain child for over a year n’ half.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
Actually, a bit of a sad story; my rescue dog (of 8 years) passed away. I desperately wanted to rescue another dog, but it just wasn’t the right time and honestly, I wasn’t ready. I was always drawn to rescue work and started volunteering at AARCS (and still do!). However, I wanted to work with dogs in and around my community. This led me to this brilliant thought…’what if I actually do this, make this brain child in to a reality?’ And BAM! A dog walking company; catering to inner city communities was created.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOUR WORK?
My late grandmother, she was a career woman through and through. Her words of wisdom always told me to follow my gut and do what I love. Her most iconic statement that I remember to this day; ‘Who cares what people think, do what you love and don’t let other people bring you down’. She said this all the while touching up her red lipstick in her gold compact. She was definitely a #bossbabe
WHAT DO YOU DREAM FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE?
I dream of growth and sustainability. I’m working towards being a part of more and more events through non-profit organizations and working in and around the community, teaming up with local businesses who are like minded. Through this growth, I envision expansion with a solid team who are as passionate as I am.

HOW DO YOU PICK YOURSELF UP WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?
I am a HUGE over thinker and a bit of a perfectionist- to a fault! I tend to stress over things that aren’t in my control. Typically, my ‘pick me up’ is one of the following or a combination of: Journaling/coloring Spin class (one cycle) Glass (or two) of red and a bubble bath And YES I’ve done all 3, but not in that order lol
WHAT’S ONE THING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU? GIVE US AN INTERESTING FACT!
I own 2 guitars (electric and acoustic) and 1 ukulele. I played in a ‘band’ (and I use that word loosely) for a number of years during my Sonic Youth phase.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I have severe wanderlust. So, if I could have any super power, it would be to teleport! Star Trek ‘beam me up’ kinda thing but not to a space ship, to a destination.
