We design and build furniture, housewares and art with an emphasis on using recycled material, especially recycled skateboards
HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR BUSINESS?
We’ve been doing it full time for 2 years now
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
We grew up on an acreage outside Red Deer so we’ve sort of always been building stuff, then it was a treehouse and some really bad skateboard ramps. 5 years ago while working our carpentry jobs we started fooling around with broken skateboards on our evenings and weekends. We started developing our techniques and style for working with the boards while also expanding our shop and just kept doing it.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOUR WORK?
Growing up skateboarding definitely influenced our approach to woodworking but a lot of the inspiration comes from the material itself, it’s so unpredictable that each board kind of dictates what it’s going to be. We also get lots of inspiration from designers like Dieter Rams, Aaron Draplin, Saul Bass and tons of other ones. The Youtube woodworking community also gives us a lot of direction on proper woodworking techniques and tricks.
WHAT DO YOU DREAM FOR YOUR BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE?
Just to keep making new and bigger stuff and developing our style. We just expanded to a bigger shop so eventually we’ll want to expand again but probably to an acreage or ranch where we can do more sawyer work.

Instagram, It’s the easiest way to keep an updated portfolio.
HOW DO YOU PICK YOURSELF UP WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?
We just keep working and learn from our mistakes, whether it’s a not using a certain technique again or avoid working with certain kinds of people that we can foresee problems with.
WHAT’S ONE THING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU? GIVE US AN INTERESTING FACT!
Adrian is a tool addict and probably checks kijiji 6 times a day and Martinus may have a problem with procrastination.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Peel the griptape off and sand the paint off skateboards just by looking at them.

I don’t think I have ever heard of anyone wish to be able to scrap the griptape and paint of skateboards by looking at them. It is a unique request, but I understand it. I think your woodworking is amazing. I love custom woodworking and using recycled materials like skateboards just makes it more impressive. However, I must ask, do you ever make new skateboards with your recycled skateboards scraps?
