Brianne – BREEZE PHOTOGRAPHY

What do you make / sell? Tell us about yo’ self.
I’m a photographer but I like to think that I don’t sell a product (photos), I sell an experience. I have always loved taking photos of my girlfriends and we spend a lot of our time dressing up at festivals. I realized that my friends and I aren’t the only ones who want to dress up creatively and have their photo taken. Especially after hearing about all the self confidence these sessions have brought to people I know I want to offer that opportunity to women from all walks of life. That is how Goddess Sessions were born. They are a way to help women learn to love every aspect of themselves.
How long have you had your business?
3 years
How did you get started?
I graduated from University of Victoria and was given my first DSLR as a graduation gift. I carried that camera with me everywhere but it was mostly just a hobby I did for fun. In the summer of 2014 I was asked to shoot an amazing wedding on the sunshine coast. Following that I was asked to do another 4 weddings before the summer ended. That was a big motivation for me to quit a job I hated and persue my passion for a little while.

Who or what inspires your work?
I’m inspired by my friends, by artists, by mothers, by WOMEN. I am so blessed to have found a supportive and inspiring group of women who are chasing their dreams. They constantly inspire me to keep chasing mine. I hope that this job continues to connect me to other women following their passion.
What do you dream for your business in the future?
I would love to do photography full time and leave the serving industry. I would love to be able to work from home or from a cafe across the world. To have clients around the world. I would love to have sessions gifted to young women graduating high school or to gift sessions to women in need or those recovering from abuse.

What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
I love instagram! It’s such an awesome way to connect to other people in the same industry or same city. And it gives everyone an opportunity to be discovered! I know there are some limitations due to their new algorithm which is frustrating but it sure beats Facebook! 😉
How do you pick yourself up when things go wrong?
BREATHE. Inhale. Exhale. Journal my feelings and thoughts out. Take a long, hot bath. Go dancing with friends. Read the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and remember that this too shall pass and there will be an upswing soon.

What’s one thing no one knows about you? Give us an interesting fact!
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the age of 25 but just before I was about to go in for surgery on Valentines Day (3 days after my birthday) I checked my instagram and discovered that I’d won a spot on a yoga retreat in Costa Rica. I had always dreamed of going to Central America and have a huge love of yoga. The trip changed my life, I met some amazing women and that following summer was the summer I quit my safe “career” job and started chasing the photography dream.
If you could have any super power what would it be?
To fly. 100%. I fly in my dreams all the time.
