What do you make / sell? Tell us about yo’ self.
We sell all kinds of love for animals. And some pretty wicked goodies in our boutique. (We try to keep it as Canadian as possible.)
How long have you had your business?
Since June 2013
How did you get started?
I was a wedding planner looking to make ends meet, and walking dogs gave me the puppy time I had been craving and the fitness I needed. Two birds with one stone! Haha. I’m all about efficiency.
Who or what inspires your work?
To be honest, everyone that said walking dogs wasn’t a real job and all of the really troublesome or shy pups. I love getting to work with animals, it can be the most rewarding experience!
What do you dream for your business in the future?
I have big dreams! Numerous locations, and hopefully (eventually) franchising. I really want to capitalize on the brand 🙂 Once we get there, I want to look at product development..
What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
It’s still Facebook! I just find the connections we make on Facebook so much more genuine than any other platform. And the ease of visibility gives us the ability to reach all kinds of people, whereas people kind of need to search for you on Instagram. (Though it is fast becoming my second favourite!)
How do you pick yourself up when things go wrong?
Things go wrong every day. “When you’re going through hell, keep going.” The worst thing you can do is to stop and dwell on it. Just keep moving. However small the steps.
What’s one thing no one knows about you? Give us an interesting fact!
I am super handy! I did 75% of the renovations at our dog hotel, and the only reason I scaled back was because I ended up getting tendinitis. My partner and other friends did about 15%, and then we let the pros do the remaining 10%. If I don’t know what I’m doing, I can be quite resourceful. If it’s broken, I will find a way to fix it! I don’t really subscribe to the belief that you need to replace anything broken, much like in all of my personal relationships.
If you could have any super power what would it be?
I would want to be able to fly! I could see the world on a smaller budget!
