What do you make / sell? Tell us about yo’ self.
I am a self taught jewelry designer originally from Ontario and I have loved making jewelry for friends and family for as long as I could remember. I moved to Alberta in 2015 and started TISH Jewelry in early 2016. The focus of my jewelry is to create simple yet unique pieces that can be worn everyday, whether it is casually to work or out for a night on the town.
How long have you had your business?
I officially started TISH jewelry just over 1 year ago. We celebrated our first birthday this past February.
How did you get started?
I always remember making bracelets as a child with whatever materials I could get my hands on. I dabbled in jewelry making while I lived in Ontario however when I moved across the country I began to take it more seriously as I was receiving compliments from the pieces I made that I wore to work. Making jewelry is my creative outlet!
Who or what inspires your work?
My favourite mediums to use are gemstones, whether it be pendants or beads. I am inspired by the beauty of the stones that come from our earth, and I love the simplicity and uniqueness of them. No two pieces are exactly the same and I try to let the beauty of the gemstone I use speak for themselves.
What do you dream for your business in the future?
My dream is to make jewelry full time while travelling all over the country attending markets. An ultimate goal would be to open a storefront to showcase local makers. I believe that supporting one another in the maker community is so empowering.
What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
Instagram hands down! The way that people are able to display photos of their work is incredible. Instagram also allows me to network with people whom I would not have access to otherwise, simply by sending a DM.
How do you pick yourself up when things go wrong?
Sometimes being in the moment can be overwhelming and stressful, however I always try to remember that everything works out in the end.
What’s one thing no one knows about you? Give us an interesting fact!
I have recently taken up the hobby of knitting and crocheting when I can find the time! I find it relaxing and therapeutic.
If you could have any super power what would it be?
The ability to read peoples minds so you always know what they are thinking!
What are your social media handles?
Where can we find your stuff?
I currently sell on my etsy page, and hope to have a website up and running soon! You can also find me at local markets around Calgary throughout the year!
