Heather – Wild Rose Organizing

What do you make / sell? Tell us about yo’ self.
I help people with too much stuff! If you’re moving/downsizing or your forever home is just too cluttered, I will rescue you from any stress and frustration you may have. As a professional organizer, it’s my job and passion to bring functionality and peace back into your life. I do so using a proven system that keeps the clutter gone, for good.
How long have you had your business?
1 year, but I’ve been organizing my whole life.
How did you get started?
When I was let go from my oil and gas job last year, I decided to try something different. I wanted to do something I’m passionate about and becoming a professional coffee drinker seemed a bit out of reach. I had been organizing my family’s home since childhood and always loved it. So I became a Trained Professional Organizer through Professional Organizers in Canada (POC) and discovered my true calling.

Who or what inspires your work?
The feeling of freedom and peace you get once your space is organized and functional. When you can focus on that goal or task you’ve been aching to accomplish, but haven’t been able to because your space wouldn’t allow it previously, it’s a liberating feeling.
What do you dream for your business in the future?
I aspire to become recognized as a trustworthy source of comfort and knowledge for those Calgarians feeling overwhelmed in their own homes. I also hope to hire a team to help me empower others in the future.

What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
I love instagram because it’s so visual and interactive. I can share tips, tricks, and semi-relevant organizing humour with complete strangers around the world. How cool is that??
How do you pick yourself up when things go wrong?
I recognize that not all days can be great days. It’s the tough times that help shape who we are. When things go wrong, I sit myself down and try to figure out how to make a positive out of the situation. Then I either head to a yoga class or have a hot bath to get centred again.
What’s one thing no one knows about you? Give us an interesting fact!
I can sort of play the drums. My whole family is pretty musical and a couple years ago I realized I can keep a pretty good beat on a drum set. One day I’ll wow you all with my mad skills.

If you could have any super power what would it be?
The ability to spread empathy. I think being able to understand and empathize with others is one of the greatest ways to bring people together.
