What do you make / sell? Tell us about yo’ self.
Hey! I’m Chelsi and I am an artist and graphic designer. I have recently moved to Calgary and have started my own graphic design business, Ziccardo Designs.
How long have you had your business?
About 4 months. (It’s only a baby!)
How did you get started?
I’ve been an artist since about 7 or 8 years old. I’ve spent some time at a couple different colleges and now I’m embarking on my new career as a graphic designer. When I moved here, I found it difficult finding a graphic design position, so I decided to go freelance and start my own business in my spare time. It’s been going well so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for it.
Who or what inspires your work?
I’m very inspired by paintings and colour. My apartment is full of colorful paintings done by myself and other artists. It’s important to me to surround myself with vibrant colors, so I’m always inspired while I work from home. I have a very large list of artists that inspire me but to name a few – M.C. Escher, Jamie Hewlett, Angelina Wrona, Erin Hunting and Leonid Afremov.
What do you dream for your business in the future?
I want my business to have a good reputation. I want people to know that they are getting the best service and creative design. I also want to branch out and try different areas like videography.
What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
I really like Facebook and Instagram. They’re super easy to use and to advertise on. I like Twitter as well, but I’m new to Twitter so I’m sure it’ll be a while before I get the hang of it.
How do you pick yourself up when things go wrong?
Most of the time I will try and draw something, or just doodle for a while until I forget why I was mad in the first place. It’s a great way to express emotions. And shopping helps too!
What’s one thing no one knows about you? Give us an interesting fact!
If I wasn’t an artist, I would be a figure skater. I don’t know why, I just love watching it!
If you could have any super power what would it be?
Invisibility!
