Laura – The Luscious Living Podcast
What do you make / sell? Tell us about yo’ self.
I am a side hustle strategist and co-host of The Luscious Living Podcast along with my friend and partner in crime Betsy Milne, a Holistic Business Coach (same last name, no relation, long story haha!)
How long have you had your business?
Two and a half years.

How did you get started?
I’m was a Medical Research Assistant turned Pediatric RN at The Alberta Children’s Hospital. I suffered with acute kidney failure as a child and from a young age I always felt it was my place to care for sick kids, and I did that full time for 5 years. Two and half years ago I made my entrepreneurial leap at 32 weeks pregnant with my own wellness business. I now co-host The Luscious Living Podcast, where we show millennial women how to confidently ditch the 9 to 5 career stress to find purpose and a pay check in their side hustle. Admittedly, the third trimester is not an ideal time to take on a second ‘business baby’ but I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as perfect timing. In fact, I believe overthinking is one of the greatest obstacles to success in life and business. If you wait until you’re ready, you’ll be waiting for the rest of your life. The ‘right time’ usually comes right before you’re ready.
Who or what inspires your work?
The Luscious Living Podcast was started as a way to share meaningful conversations with other influencers, movers, shakers, and side hustlers. Nothing inspires me more than the heartfelt, uncensored girl chats we have on the podcast; sharing hard lessons learned, laughter and badass boss babe ambitions.

What do you dream for your business in the future?
Ambition is the word! We have sooo many ideas to bring forth but our main focus is our Luscious Hustler Academy [which came out] this fall, and course and platform for newly minted boss babes, bloggers, you tubers, and coaches. There is zero doubt in my mind that side hustle is the future for millennials, but so many struggle with finding the inspiration, and courage to get started. Luscious Hustler Academy is both a course and a mastermind community where influencers can come together to co-create and collaborate!
What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
Instagram! Despite our common last name, Betsy and I are are not related. In fact, we ‘met’ on Instagram, became friends, started to work together in our businesses and then started the podcast! Instagram is amazing for bringing like-minded people together, and making the world feel smaller. I have made so many close friends over the past few years all thanks to this crazy social platform.

How do you pick yourself up when things go wrong?
My number one trick to get myself back on track and out of a self-doubt funk is to express gratitude for how far I’ve come. I’m also a numbers nerd so I always have multiple spreadsheets tracking my profits, social media engagement, and newsletter subscribers, etc. Sometimes your ego just wants cold hard facts, and reminding myself that I started with a following of zero, negative start up capital, and no sweet clue what I was doing puts my successes into sharp focus and reminds me that I CAN and WILL hit my next goal.
What’s one thing no one knows about you? Give us an interesting fact!
I have a pair of the best Spanx leggings that make me look and feel like Beyonce at the Super Bowl, and I put them on and rock out to music at home with my 2 year old daughter. She loves Taylor Swift, no doubt because I blasted “Shake It Off” a million times on my maternity leave; no judgement! lol. Mamas gotta do whatever it take to feel like a badass!
If you could have any super power what would it be?
Oh god I hate to admit it but I’d like to be able to see into the future. It’s my natural control freak tendencies. lol
What are your social media handles?
Where can we find your stuff?
Thanks so much for the gesture ladies!! You made my week!
